What are the differences between different Domain name registrars?

Monday, February 1st, 2010
John asked:

Why do i have to pay 10 dollars per year at yahoo and 3 dollars at some other company, for a domain name? It’s just the domain name right? i’m not talking about email or hosting services. When you register a domain name www.something.com You get the same thing at every company, right? so what does it matter if i get it at yahoo or at whatever place else?
Also, is it maybe so that you can’t get email and hosting at a registrar if you didn’t get the domain name from them?

Greta asked:

I was trying to apply online on a university and i made the most stupid mistake of placing my first name on the “Last name” field and vice versa. Now i’m getting paranoid. Would I get rejected for this? Must I email the registrar or must I call them instead? And to make things worse, i actually ended up doing it twice (Accidentally!) because when I was trying to correct the mistake, i went to the log-on page and it created a new account instead of going to the previous form i created (although the previous form still exists). Please give me some advice!! Thank you.

Scam? I received an email telling me I inherited $$$ from someone in the UK of Britain?

asked:

Recently, I received an email from a so called attorney telling me I was named as a beneficiary in a Will. In the second communication he sent me a Title Deed indicating the amount of money that I would receive. The Title Deed also contained my name and address and it was notarized by an Inheritance Registrar. The communication also advised me to keep this matter away from the public eye. I have even been asked to pay a revalidation fee. Is this a scam? What should I do to verify this? Has anyone received similar notices? If this is a scam, how can I blow the whistle on these guys? .. please help me with your answers, here.
