My husband’s original Final Divorce Decree was submitted to our local registrar’s office when we were applying for our marriage license. We only have the photocopy of it now. Will the original copy be required when he applies for spouse visa?

Can I correct mistakes in an N-400 Citizenship application AFTER submisal?

cmeza83 asked:

I turned in my application recently and I realized after the fact that I made a big mistake in one of the questions.

I accidentally said “NO” to the question, “Have you ever registered to vote in any federalm state, or local elections in the United States.”

A little before submitting the application, I was approached by a campus recruiter at my school. He told me to register to vote. I told him I was not a citizen but that I was working on it. He told me it was no big deal, all I had to do was note vote if I was not a citizen by the time I applied.
Stupidly, I believed him, only to recently discover that it was a lie.
I contacted the L.A. County registrar and submitted a letter requesting to cancel my registration.

My questions are
1) Have I done enough to fix this?
2) Can I correct this error and clear it up after submitting the N-400?
3) Or will I get the chance to explain myself during the citizenship interview?

Thank you.
I didnt vote, I registered to vote.
I did type up a letter explaining why I registered to vote.
And I have a copy of the letter I submitted to the County Registrar.
Would this suffice for the interview?

How do I obtain documents back from USCIS?

Saturday, January 13th, 2007
registrar
johannaobermeyer asked:

I was filling for my husband and the paperwork said to send a ” a copy of your birth certificate, issued by a civil registrar, vital statistics office, or other civil authority.” So i thought that meant like an original copy with the seal and everything so I sent it just to be safe. But that was the only official certified copy that I had. I’m thinking of ordering a new one, but can I also get back my original copy from the USCIS and where do I contact them? Its difficult because I live in California and I was born in New York.

Thanks.

Is my delayed certificate of birth enough proof of U.S citizenship to get a passport?

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006
registrar
Julian asked:

According to the travel.state.gov webpage, a delayed certificate of birth (one where the date the certificate was filed with the registrar’s office is not within 1 year of your birth) MAY be acceptable if it:

- Listed the documentation used to create it and
-Signed by the attending physician or midwife, or, lists an affidavit signed by the parents, or shows early public records.

My delayed birht certificate lists the following

supporting document 1: Certificate of baptismal record
supporting document 2: Afft. of Sophia Valdez

these two include who issued it and signed it, and they also have my father’s and mother’s name, DOB and place of birth.

Will this be enough? I hope so.

Please help.
